Ballarat District Group Overview


 

The Ballarat District Group offers its members a wide range of activities including Choir, Song in Costume, craft, public speaking, and social activities. We are always looking to welcome new members to join us in friendship and fun.

2014 Ballarat Begonia Festival Parade - CWA Ballarat Group
Entry
Begonia Parade Planning Meeting at Neil Street  Monday 17th
February at 11:00 am! All welcome!
If you are unable to attend this meeting but would still
like to be involved please feel free to contact me.

CWA Ballarat Group is very excited to be participating in
Ballarat Begonia Festival Parade again for 2014. We are encouraging as many
Junior Members, siblings or prospective Junior Members as possible to
participate of course Mums & Grandmas are welcome to come along for the
stroll as well. If you know of a Member who is not on the email list could
you please pass this information on to them.

This is a wonderful opportunity for CWA Ballarat Group to
promote ourselves and highlight our juniors. A photo of our 2013 entry is on

Our Groups Theme this year is "On the Farm"
Our entry will consist of Members walking along around a
flat bed ute (still needs to be sourced so if you know of anybody who would
be willing to loan/drive for us on the day please let us know) with a couple
of bales of hay, milk barrel, some farm produce, tools etc in the - whatever
people have laying around and would be willing to loan.  They will be
dressed in "Farm Clothes" as typified in story books, for example overalls,
jeans/shorts & checked shirts, straw hats whatever they have available. If
you are unable to participate in the parade but have items you can loan us
for the day we would be very grateful.

Some members will be handing out CWA Promotional Material;
others can carry farm related items or just walk along side.  We will also
be having some farm animals on leads, so if you have any suitable animals,
ideas or suggestions your contribution would be welcome.

So if you come along, contribute ideas or items or would
like more information please contact the following or come along to the
planning meeting:

Event details
Event: The Courier Ballarat Begonia Parade 2014
Date: Monday 10th March 2014
Time: 11am - 12.30pm
Location: Along Wendouree Parade starting from the
corner of Carlton Street and Wendouree Parade finishing at the North
Gardens.
Parade Duration
The 2014 Parade has been scheduled to run from 11am to
12.30pm. It will be undertaken at slow walking pace and temporary halts may
occur. All participants should be aware of the duration and length
(approximately 1.5km) and be able to complete the route in all weather
conditions.
Arrival/departure time
All exhibits and participants must arrive and be unloaded no
later than 10.00am in the allocated marshalling area and be ready to parade
by 10.30am. At the end of the Parade the de-marshalling area must be cleared
by 1.30pm.

Ballarat Show 2013
Huge Accolades to Mrs Liz Verlinden, our Catering Convener, who has over the past 24 hours had to contend with extreme conditions because of power outage, no fault of the Show Committee at the Show.  Liz well done you have shown extreme patient and professionalism in handling this situation.  We all loved the "whistle" today.
Many thanks to all ladies of our Ballarat Group who have helped Liz , I am sure she has really appreciated your support.
PS: Lovely to see the girls from our new Branch @ Gordon, and we as a Group thank them sincerely for input.

Congratulations Ballarat Group CWA Members who participated in the State Creative Arts Exhibition held in Bendigo
Ballarat Group's win of 1st place in the "The Veggie Patch" group
home industries entry into the State Creative Arts Exhibition 2013 (I
have attached shots with and without certificate and certificate itself.
Also Bacchus Marsh member Gabrielle Shanahan won the Swan Cup for her
Natural Resources, Basketry (not cane) entry.
Jennifer Bridgewater from Buninyong branch was a competitor in the
Canvas and Petit Point Section and was Awarded A Green Star.

CWA Ballarat District Group JUNIOR MEMBERS and friends were one of 53 floats in the Ballarat Begonia Festival Parade on 11 March 2013, in the fairytale theme of Alice in Wonderland.
The CWA Juniors were proud and excited to participate for the very first time in the city's famous annual parade!
